Yosuke Ideguchi in Celtic transfer exit as he secures J-League return with Avispa Fukuoka

Yosuke Ideguchi has left Celtic for a return to Japan.

The midfielder has returned to the J.League with Avispa Fukuoka on a year-long loan as he bids to get regular game-time under his belt. He arrived last January as part of a triple swoop from boss Ange Postecoglou but a combination of injuries and competition for places in the midfield has meant for a lack of game-time. He's now departed for a new opportunity with the club wishing him all the best. A short Celtic statement read: "Yosuke Ideguchi has joined J.League side Avispa Fukuoka on a year-long loan from #CelticFC. Good luck, Yosuke!"

His new club announced on their official website: "We are pleased to announce that Yosuke IDEGUCHI has joined the club on loan from Celtic FC (Scotland). Ideguchi is scheduled to join the team from February 10th (Friday). In addition, we will inform you about the sales of Ideguchi's 2023 authentic uniform (with uniform number and name) as soon as it is decided."

Ideguchi managed just six appearances in total at Celtic before heading out on loan for the next 12 months with three of those coming in the Scottish Premiership. He's not featured at all this season between fitness and squad selection.

The Scottish champions boast big competition in the middle of the park with the likes of skipper Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate, Matt O'Riley and in-form Aaron Mooy. David Turnbull is also knocking on the door with James McCarthy also on the books.

Reacting to his switch, he told the fans at Avispa Fukuoka: "Nice to meet you, everyone at Avispa Fukuoka. My name is Yosuke Ideguchi. I will do everything I can for this club and fight with determination. I look forward to working with you this season."
