Yoane Wissa: Brentford reject £20m Nottingham Forest bid as transfer stance made clear

Target: Yoane Wissa - (John Walton/PA Wire)

Brentford have rejected Nottingham Forest’s opening bid for Yoane Wissa.

Forest are understood to have offered around £20million for the forward, but the Bees have no plans to sell the forward this month.

Wissa is a long-term target for Forest, who were interested in a deal last summer and are expected to be undeterred by Brentford’s stance.

It remains to be seen if Forest return with an improved offer, with two weeks left to run of the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old has less than 18 months to run on his contract, but Brentford have the option to extend the deal by 12 months should they wish.

Any sale would represent a huge profit on the £8m spent on the former Lorient forward in 2021. Wissa has since grown into a key player for the Bees and can play on either wing or as a lone striker.

Wissa’s goal in the 2-2 draw with Manchester City saw him overtake Ivan Toney as the club’s all-time leading Premier League scorer with 37.
