Yesvantpur-Karatagi express derailes in Karnataka, no injuries reported

KARATAGI(KOPPAL): The engine of the Yesvantpur-Karatagi Express train derailed near the railway station in Karnataka's Koppal district on Tuesday. The train had left Yesvantpur at 8.25 on Monday night.

The train was moving at a slow speed as it was near the station. There was no mishap as the loco pilot was careful. Locals said that the incident took place when the train was changing its track. There were more than a hundred passengers on the train. But no one was harmed.

A crane has been brought from Hosapete to bring the train back on track and the operation will take about 4-5 hours. There is a possibility that the evening Karatagi-Bengaluru service will be cancelled.

The station officials said that the train which was supposed to travel on the Karatagi-Hubli route at 2.15 pm is suspended.
