Early Tuesday morning, a missile launched by Yemen's Houthi rebels targeted central Israel, triggering sirens and prompting residents to seek shelter in bomb shelters. The Israeli military reported that they made multiple attempts to intercept the missile, with indications that it was likely successfully intercepted. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries from the missile or its debris, although some individuals sustained injuries while rushing to safety.
Additionally, Israel's military confirmed the interception of an earlier missile before it could breach Israeli territory. The Houthi rebels, backed by Iran and in control of Yemen's capital since 2014, have escalated attacks not only on Israel but also on approximately 100 commercial ships. These actions are believed to be in response to Israel's military operations against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, in central Gaza, tragic consequences unfolded as Israeli strikes hit an area in Deir al Balah where displaced individuals were residing in tents. The strikes resulted in the deaths of at least six people, including two women and four children aged between 1 month and 9 years old. Heartbreakingly, one of the women was pregnant, and the other lost her daughter and son in the attack. The Al Aqsa Martyrs hospital in Deir al Balah confirmed the fatalities and received the bodies of the victims.
The situation remains tense as Israel and Hamas appear to be moving towards a phased ceasefire agreement, amidst ongoing hostilities and tragic loss of life in the region.
