An influx of Yelp reviews, many of them suspected to be fake, flooded a Pennsylvania McDonald’s location after former President Donald Trump's visit on Sunday. The surge in reviews prompted Yelp to temporarily freeze the franchise’s page.
Several recent reviews were harsh, with some criticizing Trump for his criminal record. One review alleged that Trump, a convicted felon, did not wear gloves while preparing food and took frequent breaks. Another review humorously compared the saltiness of the fries to tears shed over a lost election.
Some users blamed the McDonald’s franchise for allowing Trump to host a campaign event at the location. One reviewer expressed distrust in the management's decision-making based on the event.
However, not all reviews were negative. A five-star review mentioned that the reviewer had been a patron of the McDonald’s long before Trump's visit and planned to continue visiting.
McDonald’s found itself in the political spotlight following Trump's impromptu fry-serving event at the Feasterville-Trevose, Pennsylvania, location. Despite the chain's attempt to distance itself from the event, the franchise owner, Derek Giacomantonio, accepted Trump's visit after being approached by local law enforcement.
Vice President Kamala Harris also made headlines by claiming she briefly worked at a McDonald’s during the summer of 1983 while studying at Howard University. Trump, however, disputed her claim without providing evidence.
