Yellowstone fans have been eagerly anticipating the release of the first footage of season 5B, the highly anticipated back half of the Paramount Network drama. The short promo features narration from star Kevin Costner, who will not be returning for the upcoming season. The teaser hints at a potential Dutton family civil war, with Jaime Dutton warning Beth Dutton, 'You destroy me, you destroy yourself,' to which Beth responds, 'Unlike you, I keep my promises.'
Reports suggest that Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser are currently in talks to potentially extend the popular series beyond its fifth season. Additionally, fans can look forward to an upcoming Yellowstone sequel series titled The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Matthew Fox. The new series is described as 'a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.'
Kevin Costner, who confirmed his departure from Yellowstone to focus on his Horizon movie saga, expressed gratitude towards the fans and emphasized the importance of creating meaningful content for them. He stated, 'I gave this thing five seasons. I was really happy to do it. And I don’t need drama. So, let’s just take that drama away, let’s take the guessing [away]. The fans have been way too good to me. And my obligation is to go on and continue to make things that mean something to them.'
Costner further explained that his decision to leave the show was necessary, stating, 'It was a necessary decision to say, ‘Hey, OK, I don’t want to really talk about this anymore. It’s time to move on.' Yellowstone is set to return on Sunday, Nov. 10, and is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios. The series follows the Dutton family, who control the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States. Amidst shifting alliances, unsolved murders, open wounds, and hard-earned respect, the ranch is in constant conflict with its surroundings, including an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park.
