Yazmin Oukhellou second star to quit TOWIE after horror car crash that killed boyfriend

Yazmin Oukhellou has quit The Only Way is Essex, it's been reported.

The reality TV star's decision to call time on her stint on the ITVBe series follows the news TOWIE legend Pete Wicks has also quit the show, after seven years appearing on our screens.

Yaz, 28, is believed to have opted to step back from the series to enjoy a break and process 'everything what's happened' to her over recent months, following the death of her on-off boyfriend Jake McLean in Turkey last year.

Jake - who also previously dated Lauren Goodger -was pronounced dead at the scene when their Mercedes car overturned after plunging 30ft into a ditch in the holiday resort of Bodrum at 4.30am in the morning on Sunday July 3. Yazmin was sleeping at the time the car veered off the cliff - something doctors say could have possibly saved her life.

Yaz arrived back in the UK shortly after the tragic accident in July this year, being discharged from hospital after undergoing surgery due to her arm being seriously injured, but was not present at Jake's funeral in August, amid rumours the late businessman's family had banned his on-off girlfriend from the farewell.

Seven months on from the traumatic accident, Yaz has reportedly decided to call time on her TOWIE career.

"Yaz has decided to step away from the next series of Towie and focus on recovering from the trauma of what she has been through over the last year," a source has told The Sun.

"She needed a break after everything to process what's happened, so she has decided to leave the show and will not be in the next series."

TOWIE bosses are hopefully Yaz may return in the future (ITVBe)

The source goes on to claim "the door is always open" for Yaz to return but bosses "totally respect" her wishes.

The Mirror has approached TOWIE and Yazmin for comment on this story.

The news Yaz will no longer be filming the Essex reality TV show follows reports Pete has also quit the show.

It's claimed Pete will break the news to fans that his TOWIE days are over with him planning to pursue new projects.

It's thought he has other TV projects in the works he hopes to focus on, bringing an end to his time on the show after some huge moments.

According to MailOnline, Pete's departure will be a "huge blow" to the series and bosses with him set to announce the news to fans.

An insider revealed to the publication: "Pete is a hugely loved member of TOWIE both among viewers and the cast.

"But it's time for him to move on now, he's slightly older than the rest of the cast, and he's hoping to achieve more in his career after being on the show for such a long time.

"It's been a monumental stint and his storylines will go down in TOWIE history but for now he's taking a step away."

A second source added: "Pete will continue to cameo on TOWIE when it makes sense to appear alongside his friends, but he will no longer be a fully-fledged cast member."
