Yannick Ngakoue wants to buy Indianapolis school teachers all the supplies they need

Yannick Ngakoue has only been an Indianapolis Colt for a few months. He’s already endeared himself to the state of Indiana — and all the local teachers who might be squeezed by budget constraints.

The veteran pass rusher, acquired last spring in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders, is looking out for educators in the Circle City. Per a tweet published Friday, Ngakoue is asking teachers around Indianapolis to send their Amazon wishlists his way so he can help restock their classrooms. His goal? To ensure they’ve got all the supplies they need to give their students the best education possible.

It’s not the first time Ngakoue has rewarded hard working educators. He teamed with the Raiders to surprise Gwendolyn Woolley Elementary School Principal Joseph Uy with Super Bowl tickets back in January.

Holding giveaways on Twitter isn’t just a way to connect to his new city. It also creates a little common ground with team owner Jim Irsay. Irsay frequently uses his account to reward fans who have basic team trivia knowledge with gift cards for local businesses.

Ngakoue’s thoughtfulness is a gesture that could help the Indianapolis community both in the short and long term. He hasn’t even taken the field for a preseason game yet, but this looks like an early win for the Colts’ new edge rusher.
