With Aaron Judge still sidelined by a right big toe injury, Yankees manager Aaron Boone offered a hesitant update Friday regarding the reigning AL MVP’s return to action.
New York has been without Judge for nearly two weeks since placing him on the injured list on June 6, three days after he injured his toe following a collision with the outfield fence during a road matchup against the Dodgers.
As of Friday, the Yankees have yet to place a timeline on when Judge could possibly re-join the lineup. When asked Friday if the star slugger could be back ahead of the MLB All-Star Game on July 11, Boone was noncommittal while discussing the possibility.
“I think there’s a shot for that. That said, I don’t know,” Boone told reporters, per MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch. “I mean, I think he could be back in a week. He could be back in four. I don’t know.”

Boone’s unclear answer adds to the uncertainty surrounding Judge’s condition. Since landing on the IL, Judge has received two platelet-rich plasma injections—on June 6 and June 15, per MLB.com—to address the contusion and ligament sprain in his toe.
In Judge’s absence, New York has gone 4–5 since his last appearance on June 3. The club opened a three-game road series with the Red Sox, the team’s second set against their AL East rival in a week, on Friday.
