Yang Hyun-jun names 'best part' about life at Celtic amid standout form

Celtic winger Yang Hyun-jun says the best part about life at the club is turning out alongside 'great players'.

The South Korean moved to Glasgow's east end from his homeland in the summer of 2023.

Yang initially struggled to make a mark during his first year and more at Celtic, although, with continual faith from manager Brendan Rodgers, he has since lived up to his apparent potential.

The 22-year-old was a standout in his side's 5-2 win over St Mirren last Saturday, scoring two and assisting another in an impactful appearance from the bench.

Yang has averaged a goal contribution every 55 minutes in 2025 alone.

Recently speaking about life at Celtic, he was asked what the 'best part' about playing for the club is: "First of all, Celtic is such a big club, with so many fans and a great manager, [and] great coaching staff," he said (Celtic TV).

"Being able to play with great players is the best part, and it's a great honour."

Yang's upturn in form in recent weeks has been quite something.

Boss Rodgers puts it down to his partner paying a visit from South Korea: "I think it will help that his girlfriend's here at the moment," he said.

"So I said to the guys, see if we can keep her here! See if we can get that visa sorted!

"Everyone knows he's in a really good mood and he has been for a little while. He has two goals. His pass for Daizen Maeda’s goal to see it and then to execute it.

"Wow, what a pass. And like I said, he's a young player who's developing and improving. And like you say, he's played a really, really important role for us.

"There's obviously been starters ahead of him, but you need guys like this in your squad. And I thought he came into the game and was so direct. Gets into the areas, he was so good."

The attacker is knocking on the door for a start as Celtic face Hibernian in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals on Sunday afternoon.
