If you own a Yamaha XSR900, chances are you love two things: going fast and looking damn good while doing it. This bike is the perfect blend of modern performance and old-school cool—an inline-triple beast wrapped in a retro package that just begs to be customized. Yamaha knows this, and that’s why they’ve given us Y’s Gear.
So, who even is Y’s Gear? Think of them as Yamaha’s own in-house customization and accessories department. It’s like Toyota’s Gazoo Racing or BMW’s M Division, but instead of tweaking your car for the Nürburgring, Y’s Gear is all about making your Yamaha look and perform exactly how you want it. They design and manufacture factory-approved accessories, so you know everything fits perfectly and won’t mess with your bike’s rideability.
And now, they’ve dropped two new upgrades for the 2025 XSR900—a front cowl and a seat cowl. The front cowl adds some sleek, vintage racer vibes while integrating seamlessly with the tank’s design. The seat cowl gives the tail section a more aggressive, single-seat look, complete with decals that mimic racing number plates. Both come in white, black, and a limited-edition ivory color—matching a Japan-exclusive XSR900 paint scheme that’s only available for order until September 30, 2025.

The front cowl is priced at ¥72,050 (around $475 USD), while the seat cowl costs ¥44,550 (around $295 USD). Even though these parts seem to be sold only in Japan, getting them stateside shouldn’t be too difficult. With enough determination (and maybe some help from importers or international shipping services), XSR900 owners worldwide should be able to snag these upgrades without too much hassle.
What makes these upgrades so cool is that they’re coming straight from Yamaha itself. They’re essentially saying, “Yeah, we built this bike to be a stunner, but we want you to make it yours.” That’s pretty badass. While other brands might discourage too much tinkering, Yamaha is fully leaning into the customization culture. They get that for a lot of us, the XSR900 isn’t just a motorcycle—it’s an extension of our personality. Whether you’re chasing that 80s endurance racer look or just want to make your bike stand out, Y’s Gear is making it easier to dial in that perfect aesthetic.
Honestly, stuff like this just makes me love Yamaha even more. They’ve always been a brand that respects riders who want to push limits—whether that’s on the track or in their garage. And for those of us who are already absolute Yamaha simps, this is just one more reason to stay loyal. Now, if they’d just hurry up and release a factory retro-style fairing kit.
