The Yaber T2 Plus isn’t just another projector; it’s a portable powerhouse that brings big-screen magic wherever you go. Whether you’re looking to recreate the cinema experience in your living room, replace your TV or you want a portable projector to enjoy movies and stream TV outside, the Yaber T2 Plus can deliver.
One of the things that makes the T2 Plus a great choice is its brightness. At 450 lumens, it performs well in rooms with ambient light so you don’t need pitch darkness to enjoy your content, making it ideal for use outdoors. The audio experience is also impressive, with JBL speakers you have a complete home cinema system in one sleek unit.
And let's talk about price, the budget projector market is flooded with inferior models that make watching a movie on your old Nokia more appealing, so at under £420/$380, the T2 Plus isn’t just competitive, it’s a steal.
I’ve tested and reviewed a lot of portable projectors over the last couple of years and using the Yaber’s T2 Plus has been a really positive experience. Here’s why I think this is a great choice if you’re looking for a budget portable projector.
Yaber T2 Plus: Key Specs
Yaber T2 Plus: Design & Build
Most projectors look the same but Yaber have ditched the boring old cube look and created something that looks as good as it performs. One thing I will say is that the look and feel of this projector doesn’t feel as though it’s in the budget projector category at all. It’s plastic chases comes in a cream colour scheme and it gives off a retro feel but it certainly looks more expensive.
This projector has vents to the back and front of the unit so that it doesn't get too hot and overheat, and the rest of the chassis is covered in fabric.
One design feature I’m super impressed by given the price of this projector is that it comes with a lens cap. So many projectors don’t come with lens caps, which leads to dusty and scratched lenses in no time. However, the cap isn’t attached to the projector so you do have to be mindful not to misplace it.
The front of the projector also has sensors which handle the auto keystone and focus and you’ll find a small tag with the JBL logo to confirm Yaber’s collaboration with the audio brand.
To the rear you’ll find your connectivity ports, there are really well situated at the top of the unit so you won’t have to dig around trying to find them when your projector is already in place. You’ll find a USB-A, HDMI, Audio out and a RJ45 port. I am a little disappointed that there is only one HDMI port, because it does mean switching between cables if you have multiple devices you want to use with the projector.
You’ll also find a handle and this is where Yaber have been really clever as the handle also transforms into a stand. The soft silicone section on the handle makes it easy to grip when carrying and when used as a stand will ensure the projector doesn’t move around. If you do want to mount it on a tripod then the base does have capability.
Yaber T2 Plus: Features & performance
Yaber does have its own basic user interface but this projector comes bundled with a Google TV dongle which makes streaming incredibly easy. The dongle connects to a 90-degree angled HDMI connector so that it doesn’t get in the way at the back and can be powered using the USB port so no need to plug it into a power outlet.
The built-in battery lasts for around 2.5 hours when on full charge, which is a decent performance that will get you through a movie or a couple of episodes of your favourite TV show, but I would have liked to have seen a better battery. Especially since Yaber seem to have thought about everything else to make this one of the best projectors on the market. That said, if you’re using it indoors you can just plug it into the mains and you won't have to worry about battery life.
Setting this projector up is also super easy thanks to the auto keystone and autofocus features. Simply find a place to situate your projector, turn it on and let the projector correct the image. The Google TV dongle also makes things a bit easier as it’s loaded with all the popular streaming apps, you just need to log in to your account and you’re ready to start watching.
The Yaber T2 Plus offers a full 1080p resolution at 60Hz with 450 ANSI lumens of brightness and the image quality is superb. It also can project a screen of between 40 and 120 inches so whatever space you’re using this projector in, you’ll get the perfect size screen.
I’m not usually a fan of built-in speakers, especially on projectors, but the pair of 8W Dolby Audio-compatible JBL speakers are fantastic and certainly didn’t leave me thinking about external speakers or a soundbar. In fact, I’d go as far as to say they outperform most TV speakers.
Yaber T2 Plus: Price
The Yaber T2 Plus can be purchased from Yaber directly or you can pick one up on Amazon. You will find you get a better deal on Amazon as the current price sits at £411/$379. This does include the Google TV dongle too so you won’t have to worry about purchasing any other streaming boxes or sticks. For the quality of the projector, this is a fantastic deal. If you are buying from Amazon US then this projector is currently on sale down to $269 and you can save an extra $30 with a coupon.
Who's it for?
The Yaber T2 Plus is for anyone who wants a big screen at home. It’s ideal for watching movies, streaming TV or gaming. It’s a must-have for anyone who likes to enjoy their content outdoors too as the built-in battery and impressive JBL speakers mean this a full portable package. It’s also a good option for anyone who wants a large display at home but doesn’t have the room for a permanent TV screen as the neat, and compact design means this projector can just be stored away when not in use.
