Xiaomi has commenced the launch of its latest smartphone series in Chinese markets today—the Mi CC-series. The new series comprises two smartphones for the fashion-savvy youth, namely the Mi CC9 and Mi CC9e. The smartphones are the first Meitu-branded devices to be launched following the company's acquisition by Xiaomi in November last year.
The Xiaomi Mi CC9 and CC9e launch event went live at 4:30 pm IST on Weibo and Xiaomi's official website.
The CC9-series is expected to be priced anywhere between 1,599 Yuan (about ₹16,000) and 2,990 Yuan (about ₹30,000). Media reports suggest the smartphones would sport a trendy design and be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7-series processors.
According to Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, CC stands "Colorful & Creative" and the smartphones are being designed by a 'Chic & Cool' team comprising art students.'
Ahead of the launch, Xiaomi posted renders of the smartphone on Chinese social media website Weibo. Xiaomi also released a promo video for the CC9 line. The video is in Chinese, but essentially gives us an idea of what demographic Xiaomi is looking at with the launch of the devices.
