Xbox Game Pass is getting a dozen new games ahead of the Christmas break, including the punishingly hard Remnant games and Far Cry 6.
Microsoft frequently adds and removes titles from its popular game subscription service, which is as close to a Netflix for gaming as you can get. Many of the games can be played across Xbox consoles, PCs, Macs and mobiles, making it ideal for gaming on the go. If you’re keen to sample it over Christmas, you can even sign up for a two-week trial for just £1.
The latest batch of additions include Remnant: From the Ashes and its sequel, Remnant II: The Awakened King. The last of those arrived in July to rapturous reviews, with critics describing it as a twisted cocktail combining looter-shooter and soulslike games like the Gears of War series and Dark Souls.
For those seeking something less arduous, there’s the explosive, open-world thrills of Far Cry 6. Plus, those who didn’t catch the excellent Rise of the Tomb Raider the last time it was on Game Pass will get another chance to play it when it returns on December 5.
If violent action games aren’t your cup of tea, you’ll be happy to learn there are plenty of other genres in the mix this month. Tin Hearts offers a Lemmings-like puzzler, Steam World Build is a quirky city builder, and there’s even the ridiculously silly Goat Simulator 3.

Those on the Game Pass Core tier will also be able to play medieval slasher Chivalry 2 and multiplayer sandbox game Totally Reliable Delivery Service from December 6. Microsoft launched the basic tier as a rebranded version of its Xbox Live Gold service. Subscribers receive a smaller library of titles, which is updated far less frequently than the other plans.
Meanwhile, those on the high-end Ultimate tier can now snag three months of Discord Nitro for free. The popular chat app’s subscription service includes custom emojis, profile banners, more avatars, bigger upload sizes and HD video.
