The first wave of Xbox Game Pass July 2023 additions have been revealed – and Rockstar’s open world crime-em-up leads the lineup.
Microsoft has imparted quite the surprise on Xbox Game Pass subscribers today. Not only has it revealed the first wave of this month’s additions, but also that the fun begins today with GTA 5 being added and available to download on Xbox consoles right now. Prior to this announcement on the Xbox Wire blog, the platform-holder had previously revealed some of the July lineup back when the final wave of Xbox game Pass June 2023 titles were revealed late last month. However, now we know what Xbox Game Pass members have to look forward to between now and July 18, 2023.
Historically, Rockstar's magnum opus has had a patchy relationship with the subscription service much to the dismay of players (as per this Microsoft community post ), sticking around for just a few months before fleeting off again. This marks GTA 5's third Xbox Game Pass appearance, so it might be wise to take advantage sooner than later in case we see the same thing happen again.
Those with an Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC or capable mobile device can also look forward to settlement simulation game Common’hood, while Capcom ’s hot streak has the potential to continue as PvP dino shooter Exoprimal launches straight into Xbox Game Pass later on this month as a day one release. That’s about it for the most noteworthy titles in July so far, although there’s some smaller treats in between.
Xbox Game Pass July 2023 free games
As per usual, this is only the first batch of titles set to arrive as part of the Xbox Game Pass July 2023 lineup. Microsoft typically announces two, and with this selection only taking us through to July 18, 2023, subscribers to the service should expect even more games to be announced from the middle of the month.
The list of Xbox Game Pass July 2023 titles revealed so far are as follows:
- GTA 5 – available now (console, cloud)
- McPixel 3 – July 6 (console, PC, cloud)
- Common’hood – July 11 (console, PC, cloud)
- Insurgency: Sandstorm – July 11 (PC)
- Exoprimal – July 14 (console, PC, cloud)
- Techtonica – July 18 (console, PC)
- The Cabe – July 18 (console, cloud)
These titles will be available on the service for the foreseeable future, with most getting about a year on Xbox Game Pass on average.
Leaving Xbox Game Pass July 2023
Microsoft also went on to confirm which titles will be leaving Xbox Game Pass later this month, with the following three titles disappearing from July 15, 2023:
- Exo One (console, cloud, PC)
- Paw Patrol The Movie: Adventure City Calls (console, cloud, PC)
- Spelunky 2 (console, cloud, PC)
