Xbox Game Pass for September: Star Trucker and Age of Mythology revealed on list

Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be able to play and download several additional titles in the coming days and weeks.

The subscription service is adding four more games this month after releasing the space truck-driving simulation, Star Trucker, earlier today (September 3).

If Xbox sticks to the same game plan, these could be the first batch of titles for September, with more to follow mid-month.

Xbox Game Pass games for September

  • Star Trucker (out now)
  • Age of Mythology: Retold (September 4)
  • Expeditions: A MudRunner Game (September 5)
  • Riders Republic (September 11)
  • Train Sim World 5 (September 17)

Highlights

Brand new release Age of Mythology: Retold is the biggie this time round. With an impressive 83 rating on Metacritic, it's shaping up to be one of the top strategy games of the year.

This remake of the beloved 2002 classic, itself an offshoot of the popular Age of Empires series, revives the game with fresh updates and visuals. But, whereas its popular sibling focused on real-life kingdoms, Mythology is both literally and figuratively a god-tier real-time strategy game.

Yes, there’s still plenty of base and army building, but here you play as Greek, Norse, Egyptian, and Atlantean deities that can lay waste to their foes. You’ll summon mythical creatures, strike down entire villages with meteor storms, and turn your enemies into pigs.

Best of all, your divine powers are no longer one-and-done moves, and instead can be unleashed several times per round after a cooldown period. Meanwhile, the visuals and user interface are cleaner and more impressive to behold. As some reviews have noted, you may wind up spending an unhealthy amount of time just gazing at the game’s beautiful oceans.

Since its release in 2021, Ubisoft's live service game, Riders Republic, has received 11 seasonal updates with new content including additional sports like longboarding and live races for up to 64 players (Ubisoft)

If you can drag yourself away from Mythology, the other notable newcomer is Riders Republic. Ubisoft’s open-world extreme sports extravaganza could be just the trick for fans of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and Cool Boarders.

Although it’s three years old now, the Game Pass inclusion could give it the shot in the arm it needs to re-populate its multiplayer world of slopes and skydives.

Games leaving Xbox Game Pass in September

Alas, the arrival of new games also means several existing library titles are being removed. They include Ashes of Singularity: Escalation, FIFA 23, Payday 3, Slime Rancher 2, SpiderHeck, and You Suck At Parking – all of which are leaving on September 15.
