Microsoft has revealed the wave 1 lineup for Xbox Game Pass in August 2024 and includes several titles that have previously been teased to come to the subscription service.
The confirmed games coming this time around are Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Mafia: Definitive Edition, and Creatures of Ava. These three games will become available to subscribers via PC, Xbox, and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Xbox Game Pass August 2024
The first one, which is Creatures of Ava, will become available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers starting on Aug. 7, 2024. The release was initially announced during the Xbox Partner Preview Showcase that was held in March 2024.
In Creatures of Ava, players will control Vic, who is a young woman who has tamed wild creatures that were suffering from an infection.
The gameplay is similar to PocketPair's Palworld but replaces violence with making efforts to save infected creatures, according to IGN.
The other game coming to Xbox Game Pass this August, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, will be available starting on Aug. 8, 2024.
The game is a compilation that brings together remakes of the original Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped.
Lastly, Mafia: Definitive Edition was confirmed by Microsoft last week to be coming to the subscription service. It is a remake of the crime drama Mafia that was originally released in 2002. The game will be coming to Xbox Game Pass on Aug. 13, 2024.
The last game in this first wave of Xbox Game Pass pack takes place in 1930s America. It sees Tommy-gun-toting title character Tommy Angelo making his way through a world of organized crime, said Eurogamer.
Games That are Going
But with new games coming to Microsoft's subscription service, there are the ones that will be leaving, such as Airborne Kingdoms, Offworld Trading Company, Shadow Warrior 3, and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
With regards to Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, the remakes bring back the classic titles with improved graphics, audio, and new features, such as time trials and the ability to take control of Coco.
The original games were described as punishing and, if anything, the trilogy itself increases the difficulty even more in certain ways.
The ports, by Vicarious Visions, did an amazing job of showcasing the colorful platform puzzling world that made the Crash Bandicoot franchise an iconic series during its time.
On top of the new games, there are other updates coming to Xbox Game Pass this month, including No Man's Sky's Worlds Part 1 update finally arriving on Xbox and PC Game Pass versions, according to Kotaku.
