Thanks to an update on the Xbox store, we now know which games are set to leave Xbox Game Pass in April 2023, including a popular shooter and a surprising first-party title.
The full Xbox Game Pass April 2023 lineup is still yet to be revealed, but we know a few games that are on their way like the spooky Ghostwire Tokyo and the brand new tower defence spinoff Minecraft Legends. Sadly though, when Microsoft giveth, they must also taketh away, as we’ve learned of the next batch of titles set to leave the Xbox Game Pass lineup on April 15, 2023. This list was seen on the Xbox store with the reminder that you can get a discount on any of these titles if you want to keep them permanently before they leave the service.
Ubisoft’s tactical co-op shooter Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction is arguably the biggest title to be leaving at the end of the month, taking place in the same universe as the extremely popular Tom Clancy Rainbow Six Siege, Extraction makes the bizarre choice to take the PVP gameplay of Siege and turn it into a PVE shooter where you fight aliens. A strange jump from one of the most down-to-earth shooters in recent memory. This title launched straight on to Xbox Game Pass day one back in January 2022, so it’s not entirely shocking to see it go, especially since the game doesn’t seem to have landed the way Ubisoft probably hoped it would.
A shocking farewell is Remedy Games’ Quantum Break leaving Xbox Game Pass. The game was originally released in 2016 as an Xbox One exclusive title, published by Microsoft Game Studios, so it's strange to see it leave the service. Quantum Break was notable for being half game, half TV show, featuring a cast including Game of Thrones actor Aiden Gillen and the late Lance Reddick. The game features a protagonist with time-bending powers which makes for some interesting gameplay scenarios. While far from being Remedy’s best game it's a solid time with an interesting gimmick, plus you can feel some of the DNA for their Game of the Year winner Control in here.
