Xavi snubs Tottenham star Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe in response to best strikers question

Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez believes Robert Lewandowski, Karim Benzema and Erling Haaland are all better strikers than Tottenham's Harry Kane.

Xavi has snubbed Kane following the first round of Champions League fixtures. Kane didn't get on the scoresheet in Tottenham's 2-0 win over Marseille as new Spurs signing Richarlison took the headlines thanks to his late brace.

As Haaland found the net twice in a big 4-0 win for Manchester City against Sevilla, Xavi's own striker Lewandowski bagged an impressive hat-trick at home to Viktoria Plzen.

Speaking after the performance, Xavi declared the Pole to be one of the best three strikers on the planet, with Haaland and Benzema also handed recognition.

As cited by the Mirror, the Spaniard said: "It's fantastic to have him in the team, I can't praise him enough. But it's not just the hat-trick, it's everything he does and what he brings," the Blaugrana manager said of Lewandowski. "Apart from the goals, he makes the team play, he understands when to press, he gives us many solutions in attack, how he communicates, he understands the game. The best? There's him, Benzema and also Haaland."

All three mentioned are exceptional in their own right, with Benzema expected to win the Ballon d'Or this year following an unprecedented Champions League campaign that ended with him lifting the trophy for the fifth time.

Nevertheless, Kane certainly has a claim to be considered amongst the world's best forwards, and the Englishman can feel somewhat hard done by.
