Xavi Simons in awed Rangers '12 men' Champions League claim as wonderkid demands PSV swerve fear factor

Xavi Simons reckons PSV will be playing against 12 men at Ibrox as the wonderkid admits the Dutch side face an intimidating Ibrox cauldron on Tuesday.

Rangers welcome the Eredivisie side to Glasgow for the first leg of the Champions League play-offs before the return fixture in the Netherlands next week, and they come into the game in top form having thrashed the Go Ahead Eagles 5-2, although their opposition did have to play with ten men for almost an hour. The former Paris Saint-Germain kid grabbed a double as he continues his rise.

Simons has made a big impact since his summer transfer where he opted to move to PSV despite strong links over a potential move to Rangers. But the 19-year-old admits the hot reception at Ibrox could be a key factor in denying PSV their group stage dream, after the impressive second leg display from Gio van Bronckhorst 's side against Union Saint Gilloise.

Simons said: "I think we will play against 12 men against Rangers on Tuesday. The atmosphere there is really incredible. Our job is to be focused. I expect a good match.

"I have tried to do my best since I arrived and I hope I have contributed to our success. I was a substitute twice in the last round against Monaco and of course that is the manager's decision.

"But I will try to take my chances whenever I am called upon. I want to enjoy my football. And I hope I have given the manager a difficult decision to make on Tuesday!

"I've enjoyed the way Dutch football is and I love a tackle even though I am small. Even when I was young, I was always the smallest. But that doesn't mean you can't win your battles. You have to have balls out there."
