Former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso has emerged as the 'primary target' for the Tottenham Hotspur job.
According to Dutch publication De Telegraaf, Alonso is said to be the leading candidate for the vacant role at Tottenham after an impressive season at Bayer Leverkusen.
The report goes on to claim that the former Spain international holds an advantage over Feyenoord boss and fellow candidate Arne Slot. It is also claimed that Alonso's 'calibre' during his playing days was attractive to the North London club.

Tottenham are currently in the midst of a crisis. Former boss Antonio Conte left the club in late March, only to be replaced by his assistant, Cristian Stellini.
However, Stellini failed to improve things, and he was sacked by Spurs chief Daniel Levy after his team was thrashed 6-1 by Newcastle United. Ryan Mason has been put in charge until the end of the season.
Alonso's Leverkusen side sit sixth in the Bundesliga, having won 14 matches out of a possible 30 so far this season. The Spaniard took charge of the German side last year, having previously managed Real Sociedad's B team.
