The 62-year-old Ballyfermot native appeared on The X Factor in 2010 alongside contestants such as One Direction, Cher Lloyd and winner Matt Cardle.

The performer revealed her impressive weight loss in 2020, explaining that it was about becoming healthier overall and living longer for her daughter Deborah.

Speaking to Dublin Live today, Mary revealed who she looks to for style inspiration following her weight loss.

She said: "I would look at Kris Jenner. I like her style."

Mary joked: "I started to go in that direction and this is what was left. I'm sorry if it's not like Kris."

She added: "I'm up and down with the weight. I lost almost six and a half stone. I lost another stone and a half in the first lockdown. In the second lockdown I regained that stone."

Mary previously revealed that when she took part in The X Factor, she was "just under 21 stone".

She recalled: "My daughter is the reason behind it and we fight like cats and dogs because she is so strict on me; but it has worked.

"She won’t let me do the shopping because she knows I buy rubbish, which I will; but she has made me realise that life is there for living."

At the opening of The One Cafe in Baldoyle today, Mary also revealed some of her future aspirations when it comes to performing, explaining that she would like to release a country music album.

"I have had a few offers from guys wanting to put it together. We'll see where that goes. I want to do a country album for my dad," the singer told Dublin Live.

"My dad and me used to listen to a radio station called Treble TR many moons ago. It played all genres of music. My dad and I used to share a pair of earphones to listen."
