X Factor's Honey G reveals regime behind incredible two-stone weight loss

Rapper Honey G, who found fame on X Factor in 2016 becoming the show's first female rap artist, has opened up about how she lost weight over lockdown, shedding a whopping two stone.

The 41-year-old, whose real name is Anna Georgette Gilford, explained to The Sun that she is in the midst of preparing for the London Marathon having overhauled her lifestyle, becoming a fitness fanatic. She regularly takes part in triathalons, runs for miles and partakes in yoga and recently wowed fans after unveiling a slimmer look - a look in which she had ditched the gold chain, sunglasses and snapback cap.

Speaking to Closer Online when her weight loss first sparked attention in 2020, Honey G said: “During lockdown, a friend invited me to go swimming in the open water. I loved the buzz exercise gave me, so I signed up to a do a triathlon. It felt like an absolute thrill to be pushing my body so hard. I do hefty cardio like running, spinning and cycling, and it’s completely changed my body shape.”

She added how she'd shocked herself with how much weight she had shed. She said: "I’ve surprised myself with the amount of weight I’ve lost, I feel more confident and sexier than ever. For the first time in ages, I’ve been able to buy clothes that are considered sexy, like leather trousers and lacy tops, which I’d never have worn before.

"I went shopping recently, and I was shocked I could fit into a pair of size 12 trousers. Before, I would have been reaching for a size 16 or 18.”

The lifestyle change had reportedly been made after advice she had received from nutritionists and an obesity specialist. She explained how her past diet had included "a lot of sugar", "too many takeaways and big portions". She said how she was harming her body by eating "too much".

She said:“I now stay clear of white bread and rice, and instead I’ll have healthy carbs like multi-grain or rye bread. I don’t drink alcohol at home, or buy biscuits or chocolates. If I fancy something sweet, I’ll have a protein bar, which might have a touch of chocolate. I get my fix that way.”

Two years on, Honey G is looking as glamorous as ever and has said previously how she's starting to look like the "old me" again. Speaking to The Sun on the red carpet at the premiere of Rise of the Footsolider, Anna - aka Honey G - said of her fitness regime now: "I have a strict routine and you have to be really disciplined.

"Especially with the marathon training. I’m following a strict training plan, and you have to do a long run so I’m running two or three times a week.

“I did a 20 mile race in October and I was absolutely cream-crackered after that and literally couldn’t even walk. But now everything is looking good and my training is going very well.

"I’m training a lot actually. I’m running it with a mental health foundation so doing a lot of training at the moment. I’ve done four triathlons too. I might do more triathlons. Obviously April and May is when the triathlon season is going to start so maybe there’ll be a couple more triathlons in me this year."

She then unveiled that she is still doing her music alongside keeping up with her marathon training, going into the studio every day. She is even branching out into the world of singing as well as rapping.

“I’m balancing my fitness with my music, and I’m doing a lot of running in the evenings and then I’m in the studio during the day, so there’s loads going on.”

A typical day for Honey G allegedly includes food items like porridge or eggs with toast for breakfast and chicken with broccoli and corn on the cob for lunch.
