X Factor: Celebrity live show ends on a low note as Olivia Olson bursts into tears after being sent home

Love Actually star Olivia Olson made an emotional exit during the first X Factor: Celebrity live show on Saturday night.

After viewers' votes were counted, the 27-year-old actress ended up in the bottom two alongside Martin Bashir.

The celebrity version does not include a sing off but in keeping with the regular show's format, Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh then had to decide who to send home.

Walsh and Scherzinger both opted to save their own acts, Olson and Bashir respectively.

The decision on who would be sent packing then fell to Cowell.

Olson was visibly emotional as the judges shared their thoughts and with her fate sealed, she struggled to keep it together, answering with 'not great' when host Dermot O'Leary asked how she felt.

Many viewers shared their dismay at the decision and the aftermath, which made for uncomfortable viewing:

Ricki Lake also left the competition after receiving the least support from the public during the six minutes voting was open. Her ambitious cover of Fleetwood Mac's Landslide had failed to impress the panel.

Olson had performed Dionne Warwick's Anyone Who Has A Heart and while she won praise for her vocals, her song choice and performance style were criticised.

Bashir performed Danke Schoen by Wayne Newton.

The episode also saw Vinnie Jones makes his X Factor: Celebrity debut after missing the Los Angeles audition stages following the death of his wife, Tanya.

The former footballer held back tears as the crowd chanted his name following his performance of The Blues Brothers' Everybody Needs Somebody.

Speaking in a pre-recorded video message before taking to the stage, Jones said he wanted to win to carry on Tanya’s legacy.

He said: “I will tell you why I am here, in all seriousness. My wife, Tans, she was just like, ‘You have got to do it. Please do it.’ She loves the show.

“Soon after Tanya passed I decided I’ve got to do it for her legacy and we will carry that legacy on. In her name we will try and win this.
