Wynne Evans called a 'nutter' by Lorraine Kelly as she weighs in on Strictly Tour drama

Lorraine Kelly has given her verdict on the drama surrounding Wynne Evans’ exit from the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour.

The Welsh opera singer, 53, confirmed reports that he has been axed from the Strictly Come Dancing Live tour after making an inappropriate remark at the press launch.

His comments, which were of a sexual nature, were directed at professional dancer and tour host Janette Manrara and were caught on camera.

In the statement issued via social media on Tuesday evening, he issued a grovelling apology and said he also intended to take time out from his BBC radio show to “prioritise my wellbeing”.

It has since been reported that he has split from his girlfriend, who is said to be “humiliated” by his antics, and he is fighting to hold on to his lucrative gig as the face of financial services comparison company GoCompare.

He will also be keeping his fingers crossed that his recently announced BBC travel show with Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page isn’t scrapped.

With all of this going on, it’s not surprising that he reportedly snubbed his own birthday meal with his Strictly co-stars on Monday evening.

He does however have the support of his brother, who vowed to stand by the star, whom he said had a “heart of gold”.

Now, broadcasting veteran Kelly, 65, has weighed in and called him a “nutter” for getting himself into this situation.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday ahead of her own show, the Scottish star said he “has” to take a break from his professional duties and “think about what he’s done.”

She continued: “I thought, ‘Come on, I just don’t get it, I don’t know why you would think that’. What kind of person says that anyway, but what kind of nutter does that when they are being filmed?

“It’s bad enough to think it but then say it, I don’t know, I don’t understand. I am baffled.”

Discussing the incident later on during her show, she went on to brand Evans a “complete clown.”

It’s not the first time that Evans has faced controversy.

Last year while competing in the TV version of Strictly Come Dancing, he was forced to apologise for what was claimed to be a “joke” after professional parner Katya Jones was seen moving his hand from her waist during the BBC show.

In another moment, Jones appeared to not want to high-five her celebrity partner, which they both called "a running joke".
