WWE star and former Raw women’s champion Rhea Ripley has taken aim at controversial influencer Andrew Tate on social media.
Tate is currently behind bars in a Romanian prison after his arrest on December 29 last year on suspicion of human trafficking, rape and being part of an organised crime gang. This week he commented on his time being locked up and claimed the cockroaches, lice and bed bugs are his only friends in prison.
"They're trying to break me,” he said, adding that he has been “thrown inside a cell without light”.
"When the guards bring me to and from the courtroom, I stay absolutely respectful. They try to pour hatred into my heart," he added.
This prompted a response from the former NXT women’s champion, who savagely compared Tate to the insects he described.
“He fits in perfectly then”, the powerhouse wrestler posted to her Instagram stories.
Tate and his brother, who have denied the allegations against them, rose to fame on social media last year with videos of them on TikTok receiving billions of views. The controversial kickboxer, who was nicknamed 'Cobra' during his career, had most of his social media accounts but has since been reinstated on Twitter following Elon Musk's takeover of the platform.
Romanian prosecutors have said that the four suspects, which includes Andrew and Tristan, "appear to have created an organised crime group with the purpose of recruiting, housing and exploiting women by forcing them to create pornographic content. They would have gained important sums of money."
Tate has remained active on Twitter since being imprisoned, although it's unclear if the messages are being posted by him or someone of his behalf. A recent tweet from his account read: "In the darkened silence of solitary confinement there is almost no noise. Pray for me, I can hear you" with another reading: "Everything bad happens at once. That's how life works. Be prepared. Enjoy the storm. Sing in the rain. Look forward to the rainbow."
Known as 'The Nightmare', Ripley is one of the most dangerous and intimidating superstars on WWE’s books.
She plays a key role in the villainous group known as the ‘Judgement Day, featuring former US champions Finn Balor and Damian Priest, and the son of Rey Mysterio, Dominick.
