
Lahore: West Indies captain Hayley Matthews performed brilliantly on the first day of the Women's World Cup Qualifier, but despite showing amazing performance with both bat and ball, Matthews' team had to face defeat. Scotland gave a big shock by winning this match by 11 runs.
According to the Dynamite News correspondent, Matthews bowled brilliantly in the first innings of the match and took 4 wickets for 56 runs. Scotland's team looked strong at 182 runs in the first 34 overs, but after that their batting lineup collapsed and the entire team was reduced to 245 runs in 44 overs.

Matthews retired hurt twice during this period at the score of 95 and 99, and once she was taken out of the field on a stretcher, but she did not lose courage and came back and completed her 9th century in 101 balls.
Matthews became the fourth female player in ODI history to score a century and take four wickets. She also became the first female captain to do this feat. At the age of 27, she also made the record of the second fastest player to complete 9 centuries in the least number of innings (88).
