WufWuf subscription box turned my dogs into rockstars for a day

My rescue dogs get through toys in five minutes, and we often struggle to find anything sturdy enough to survive without leaving a sea of stuffing across the living room. As a result, I’ve probably spent a small fortune of chews and toys over the years trying to discover something that will entertain them for a longer period of time.

Subscription boxes for pets are a really fun way to discover new treats and toys without having to trawl the internet yourself, and it means your pets have a monthly rotation of toys keeping play time even more exciting.

Staffy-crosses Phoebe and Frank have recently tried out the WufWuf subscription box, which even gives you the opportunity to select the size of your dog so that they can send suitable treats and toys.

The London-based business was launched by a team of dog owners who know how difficult it is to keep pets entertained. WufWuf said: “The trouble is the time and effort it takes to research - and then go find - toys and chews that are safe and healthy… Not to mention the strain it puts on our wallets, especially if your dog is particularly ‘enthusiastic’ about toys.

“We decided we needed an easier way to keep our dogs happy. WufWuf was founded not only to make it effortless for you to provide the best products for your dog, but also to make it easier to afford. This makes it simpler than ever to provide consistent stimulation to your furry family member – resulting in a healthier happier dog.”

When ordering the box, WufWuf asks for details about your pet such as their name, age and preferences so that your box can be tailored to your pet. When you place an order for one of their £22.90 boxes, you immediately get their most recent box shipped, and any future boxes will be a total surprise when they arrive.

The box we received was the Hairy Metal box, which was rockstar themed, though previous boxes have been seasonal such as Easter, Valentines and Christmas. Our WufWuf contained not one, but two musical themed toys, which as a multi-dog household is ideal because Phoebe and Frank don’t share very well. In fact, there was a bit of a sibling tiff over who would get to be lead singer and who was the guitarist.

In the end we decided that seeing as Frank is the more vocal one, he could have the squeaky microphone rope toy, while Phoebe, who’s a bit more reserved but certainly knows to have fun, was better suited to the guitar. She was also the only dog that would happily wear it for the photo.

The dogs were far too excited about their new toys to take a peek at the treats, so I gave them a hand with that and stored them safely in our treat jar for later. We received two packets of treats, including WufWuf’s own brand and some Pet Munchies, which are a firm favourite in our house. But there was also a collagen chew, which is great for skin and coat, which will need carefully breaking in half for them to enjoy.

Because it was our first box, we also received a nylon bone toy, which brought the total value of individual items in the box to around £3.80 each, which I thought was really reasonable.

I’d easily spend well over £25 of treats and toys for the dogs each month, but knowing our WufWuf box is arriving, I’m much less likely to impulse buy for them unnecessarily, which is important when the cost of absolutely everything seems to be increasing.

We’ve been really impressed with the contents but also how sturdy the toys are, because Phoebe and Frank didn’t manage to wreck them within 10 minutes. We can’t wait to see what comes in next month’s box.
