A woman on Twitter has been confused for the new Prime Minister.
Social media user Liz Trussell is owner of the Twitter handle @LizTruss and has been inundated with messages meant for the leader of the Conservative party, Liz Truss. However, the replacement for Boris Johnson actually uses the handle @trussliz.
Many people have been tagging Liz Trussell and sending over congratulations meant for the new Prime Minister as the real Liz Truss beat Rishi Sunak to the post yesterday. The doppelgänger account has been having the time of her life replying to all of the posts with funny quips about meeting the Queen and enjoying cake.

It all started as Swedish PM, Magdalena Andersson, passed on her congratulations to Liz Truss, but accidentally tagged Liz Trussell. The Swedish leader said: "Congratulations to @liztruss as she assumes the role of Prime Minister of the UK. Sweden and UK will continue our deep and comprehensive cooperation. Important for our citizens, economies and security."
The mistaken account jokingly replied as she said: "Looking forward to a visit soon! Get the meatballs ready."
One user told the false account to enjoy the moment. Dan said: "@Liztruss enjoy the moment. @theashes got a trip to Australia out of the confusion." Liz Trussell replied: "Am holding out for a visit to meet the Queen."
Other users called for the 'false' Liz Truss to become Prime Minister after the hilarious quips. Jake said: "Liz Trussell who has the @Liztruss Twitter handle looks like an absolute hun! Can we please have her as PM instead?" Meanwhile, Ben said: "@Liztruss after reading your replies to all the congratulatory messages, I actually want you to be Prime Minister."
Stuart added: "Shout out to @liztruss, who is having their very own @JohnLewis moment. Also, likely would be a better PM than @trussliz, who couldn’t even secure a sensible Twitter handle."
