Wrong Liz Truss is cheekily replying to tweets from world leaders

World leaders, political rivals and news outlets are accidentally tweeting to the wrong Liz Truss on Twitter - and far from being annoyed she is having fun replying with cheeky comebacks. Liz Trussell was @LizTruss long before the woman who has just been named Prime Minister was thrown into the spotlight.

But until now she has gone mostly unnoticed - until Liz Truss was named Prime Minister. Now Liz Trussell has been tagged in tweets by everyone from the Swedish Prime Minister to BBC reporters. And Ms Trussell is taking the opportunity to reply back with tweets about everything from McDonald's to meatballs.

When the leader of the Green Party launched an online attack on the new Prime Minister, and tagged in the wrong Liz Truss, Ms Trussell replied that she 'loves cake' - a reference to Partygate.

When Swedish prime minister Magdalena Andersson tweeted at Liz Trussell, saying: “Congratulations to Liz Truss, who will assume the role of Prime Minister of Great Britain. Sweden and Great Britain will continue our deep and extensive cooperation. It is important to our citizens, economies and security,” Ms Trussell replied back: "Looking forward to a visit soon! Get the meatballs ready."

And when Twitter user Mollymoo tweeted: "Show them all that the best man for the job is a WOMAN" Ms Trussell replied: "Preach sister."

Those who realized the mistake have called for Liz Trussell to be named the next PM. Jake Graham wrote: "Liz Trussell who has the @Liztruss Twitter handle looks like an absolute hun! Can we please have her as PM instead?."

Ben Draper tweeted: "After reading your replies to all the congratulatory messages, I actually want you to be Prime Minister."

Ms Trussell has used her new Twitter fame to pledge free McDonald's breakfasts for the nation and express her desire to become best friends with Queen Elizabeth. She also said she has no objections to foreign cheese.

When she was tagged in a Tweet breaking the news of her new Prime Ministership by BBC journalist Hayley Hassall, Liz Trussell replied: "Just getting ready to head up to Balmoral! Looking forward to meeting the Corgi’s"
