Amid all the clamour over the Stone Roses reunion, one of the band's artistic legacies has been overlooked – the much-admired, Pollock-influenced album art by guitarist John Squire.
Other iconic sleeve art includes Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and Coldplay's Viva la Vida, which made use of Delacroix's painting of revolution, Liberty Leading the People. On the web, people have taken to posing with classic record sleeves: photos on sites such as Sleeveface, promote vintage artwork such as a dashing bust of Kenny Rogers in a sky blue leather jacket.
But what about you? What's your favourite album art? Do you prefer vintage record sleeves to contemporary covers? Have you put one up on your wall in homage to your favourite band? Or have you collected covers, compiling them into the perfect coffeetable book?
We'd like to hear what you think. If you'd like to participate, please email adam.boult@guardian.co.uk with the subject line "Readers Panel" before 8am on Friday 6 July. You can write up to 200 words on your favourite album covers, and we'll pick a handful for publication.
