Reports of Cristiano Ronaldo eyeing up an exit from Manchester United will no doubt have alerted a few clubs – and it seems even Wrexham might fancy their chances.
The Times claim Ronaldo has been asked to leave Old Trafford this summer should United receive a satisfactory offer for him. The 37-year-old has reportedly made the decision due to his desire to play Champions League football for the remainder of his career, though the MEN understands United expect him to stay.
Speculation has followed Ronaldo ever since he made his return to United last summer. United’s failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League has only added fuel to the fire that he could look to leave a year early on his contract.

Bayern Munich have been tipped as the early frontrunners to sign Ronaldo, despite having denied rumours earlier on in the window that they were eyeing up a deal. Chelsea have also been touted as a potential destination, following reports Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes discussed the possibility with the Blues’ new owner Todd Boehly.
Moves to Italy, Spain, France and Portugal have also been tipped. And it seems Wales might also be added to the list.
National League side Wrexham can certainly offer some Hollywood glamour to Ronaldo thanks to actor co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. And the latter has seemingly made a cheeky bid to try and secure the Portuguese ace’s services next season.
Responding to a tweet saying: “Cristiano Ronaldo has asked to leave Manchester United if they receive a suitable offer this summer,” McElhenney replied with “define suitable”.
Given Ronaldo’s Champions League ambitions, a move to North Wales might just be out of the question. It would certainly make for some interesting viewing though.
