Wren adds fitted bedroom ranges to widen household appeal after kitchens catapult to near £1b sales

Wren Kitchens is heading upstairs!

The North Lincolnshire headquartered business that has taken the UK market by storm, while making major inroads Stateside, has launched a fitted bedrooms range.

Describing it as a “new exciting space in the home renovation market,” it is a natural evolution on 14 years of solid growth in its core business, with more than 7,000 people now employed. The initial range, all manufactured from its massively expanded UK operations, will feature single and double-fitted wardrobes, chests, and bedside units, with customers to be given a selection of more than 80 unit types and 20,000 unit combinations.

Leading on from the innovative kitchen design solutions, award-winning 3D software and virtual reality technology will be available in the 100-plus showrooms, with home owners able to use headsets to walk around their envisioned space, trying out wardrobes, opening and closing drawers and storage solutions, for a “next-level interactive experience”.

Joanne Dodsworth, head of bedrooms at Wren Kitchens, said: “We’re thrilled to announce the new launch of our fitted bedroom range. The fitted bedroom market has seen continual growth in recent years and has inspired us to offer more quality Wren products throughout our customers’ homes.

“Wren has always aimed to help its customers achieve the home design of their dreams, and our new bedroom ranges have been styled with the same careful attention as our kitchens.”

Headquartered at The Nest in Barton, having been initially launched by former Hygena boss Malcolm Healey across the Humber Bridge in East Yorkshire, the past decade has seen the company transform the former Kimberly-Clark factory in the town, most recently adding a 990,000 sq ft further production facility, creating hundreds more jobs. It has become one of the biggest employers in the Humber region, with further sites in Scunthorpe and Howden.

The new space at Barton has provided the business with the capacity to expand the range, with cabinets to be built in Howden and other parts produced across all sites.

Having sold up the initial UK business, launched in the US and sold again, before heading home, Wren was the third iteration, and has also branched out into the US, with manufacturing and retail following the UK model. The company said there are no current plans to take the bedroom range to the States.

The last reported financial year, 2021, saw Wren generate its strongest growth to date, with a 30 per cent uplift in sales to £916.5 million. Pre-tax profits had also passed a new milestone of £100 million, on a similar trajectory.
