Developer Bubear and publisher THQ Nordic released an announcement trailer that revealed Wreckfest 2 is on the way by teasing some brutal vehicular chaos.

There were a couple of new features in the upcoming game that quickly struck fans of the franchise in the heart. The first thing is of course the amazing visuals that show just how far the series has come.

The second, which some people may consider more important, is that the game's drivers will be animate, meaning they react in certain ways whenever other drivers ram into them.

The reveal trailer was a mixture of cinematic footage and in-game gameplay that gave players a glimpse of what they could experience soon.

Furthermore, the publisher held a preview event earlier in the week where it showed off a bit of the game's car customization.

This was referred to as a "big new feature," that lets players paint individual car pieces and put decals, impact damage, and rust on them, according to Rock Paper Shotgun.

Wreckfest 2 will feature various modes, including single-player career, multiplayer, tournaments, regular challenges via game updates, as well as modding support. The upcoming game runs on a new version of Bugber's ROMU engine.

This appears to be something that is capable of more elaborate vehicular deformation effects with doors and exhaust pipes flapping loose and tires unhooking and bounding away.

The studios said that the sequel will have a revamped and remodeled physics engine set up, said PCGamer.

It would supposedly take advantage of modern hardware that is capable of much more complex animations.

The official description even goes on to say that it would have "even higher crash fidelity, a deeper armor and damage system," as well as a "more intricate component damage simulation."

An Upgrade From the Original

Wreckfest 2 will also emphasize how its various game modes have been revamped and the career mode was described as completely being reimagined. The studios said that it would now support every playstyle that players could have.

During THQ Nordic event where it revealed Wreckfest 2, the publisher also announced other titles that will be coming soon. These include the long-awaited Gothic 1 remake and Titan Quest 2, with both showing gameplay footage.

The studio also teased the creepy new game from Little Nightmares studio Tarsier as well as The Eternal Life of Goldman, a platforming adventure.

The latter is hand-drawn and hand-animated, which was pretty much the focus of the showcase event, according to Eurogamer.
