Would other NBA teams have given Jaylen Brown a supermax contract extension?

There has been a surprising amount of gripes over the size of star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown’s historic, $304 million supermax contract extension, but when it comes down to it, are there other teams in the NBA that would have handled the Georgia native’s extension differently?

After Brown qualified for the contract slot worth between 31 and 35% of the salary cap in any given season, the perception was that the team had little choice but to offer it to him, lest an attempt to get the Cal alum on a below-market deal for the second time in his career put off Brown and risk seeing him test the waters of unrestricted free agency, perhaps even leaving the team for nothing.

But would other teams have traded Brown, or tried to get him on the books for less?

The host of the “Locked On Celtics” podcast John Karalis explored this idea on a recent episode, check out the clip embedded above to hear what he had to say about it.
