'Would already be there' - Kylian Mbappe agent slammed over failed transfer after Liverpool and Real Madrid claims

The agent of Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe has been criticised amid suggestions Liverpool could pay in excess of £250m.

Fayza Lamari, also the mother of the France international, represents the attacker who is once again embroiled in a transfer saga after revealing he will not be extending with the Ligue 1 champions beyond 2024.

Real Madrid are widely considered as favourites to sign the talisman with Liverpool previously monitoring his situation but the Reds now find themselves seemingly out of the hunt due to the 24-year-old being financially out of their league, according to the departing director of research at Anfield, Ian Graham.

However, it hasn't stopped Jurgen Klopp's side being linked with a spectacular offer for the former AS Monaco man.

On Tuesday, it emerged that the Reds could lodge a mammoth bid to gazump Los Blancos to their long-standing target. FIFA agent Marco Kirdemir told Spanish outlet Radio Marca: "They told me that they are very angry. They wanted and were confident that he was going to renew. The Emir is very upset.

"Liverpool is competing with Real Madrid and wants to pay a fortune for Mbappé, that fortune he speaks of would be around 300 million (Euros)."

In recent seasons, Mbappe's future has become increasingly uncertain after the pursuit of Real with president Florentino Perez steering their interest. He was on the verge of becoming the latest star to be unveiled at the Santiago Bernabeu but at the 11th hour, he signed fresh, improved terms with PSG.

The France star's mother has now come in for criticism from intermediary Yvan Le Mee, speaking on RMC AfterFoot via AS said: "Being an agent is not Mbappe's mother's job. She does not have the ability to act. There is a reality, you have to do what you know how to do. I wanted to make a restaurant but I don't know how to cook, because I don't have to," he began.

"There is the 'I take care of my son' and there is the 'I offer my services to 20, 30, 100 players' . As an agent, we are people to do operations. I am convinced that if Kylian Mbappe had had an agent at the time of the negotiations with Real Madrid two years ago, he would already be there.

"When you don't have the habits and customs, when you talk to a coach from a historic club like someone you've known for a long time, it might not work.

"I don't know how to handle the situation to get there. He is still in Paris and obviously he doesn't seem happy to be there."

Mbappe has been open in sharing his mother's "love" of the six-time European Cup winners. During the World Cup in Qatar, she was all smiles watching her son as she pointed to the Liverpool badge. The club were in talks to sign him prior to his move to Paris and he revealed that the negotiations were sparked due to her affection with the Reds.

"We talked a little bit, but not too much. We talked a little bit," he previously told the Daily Telegraph. "I talked to Liverpool because it’s the favourite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool.

"I don’t know why, you will have to ask her! It’s a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco I met them. It’s a big club."
