Fiona Worts has scored a double to lead Adelaide to a 3-1 comeback win over Brisbane and keep the Reds in the A-League Women premiership.

In the process, the star striker dealt a hammer blow to Brisbane's finals hopes and ensured Adelaide bounced back from their loss to Melbourne City.

Adelaide (39 points) are behind leaders City (43) and Melbourne Victory (41) and play the latter at AAMI Park next Saturday.

The Reds have three games left while City and Victory have four.

Brisbane (25 points) sit sixth with four games to play, including this Wednesday's clash with City, and have several teams nipping at their heels.

The Roar are now winless in five matches.

Brisbane were without Matildas star and captain Tameka Yallop (calf tightness).

But Mariel Hecher put the Roar in front in the 52nd minute at Hindmarsh Stadium.

Under pressure from Brisbane's attack, Adelaide goalkeeper Claudia Jenkins hit the ball into teammate Ella Tonkin and it ricocheted into the path of Hecher to score.

Twelve minutes later, Chelsie Dawber burst down the left then cut the ball back for Worts to power home the equaliser.

In the 86th minute, the Brisbane defence failed to clear a free kick and Worts instinctively tapped home.

Four minutes later, after she was brought down in the area, Dawber took the penalty and coolly converted to seal three points.

Worts (nine goals) sits equal third on the golden boot while Dawber (eight) shares fifth place.
