Irish Rugby have been slammed by fans for "the worst kit launch ever" as their new jersey was apprently revealed on the catwalk in Milan.
Northern Ireland designer JW Anderson, who is the son of former Ireland captain Willie Anderson, wore the new jersey at Milan Fashion Week, and the new top was met with a rousing applause.
Anderson wore the green shirt for his Dad, saying: "“It’s because it’s father’s day today, so I thought I would.”
He was seen taking a bow in the rugby top after presenting his new womenswear resort collection and menswear collection.
Irish Rugby posted a photo of Anderson wearing the new jersey, saying: "A sneak peak of the new Canterbury Ireland jersey on the catwalk!"
They then added: "At the unveiling of his new collection, delighted to have designer Jonathan Anderson give a preview. The full range will drop in July."
Ireland fans were not as supportive as the Fashion Week fans though, and appeared to dislike the manner in which it was revealed to them, not to mention the mint green colour. The jerseys worn at the World Cup will not feature a sponsor, and there are some who believe this simply can't be the design or the launch.
"I've never felt as underwhelmed" said one.
"Like this might actually be the worst jersey launch I've seen" explained another.
"Well this is atrocious. And this is how we find out..." said another.
Wales are expected to unveil their new kit, which will be for the Rugby World Cup and the next two years, next month.
A striped, buttoned shirt from the JW Anderson website will set you back £450, whilst frog-shaped loafers will cost you £370. Anderson also designed Rihanna's red jumpsuit for the Super Bowl half time performance, as well as two bodysuits for Beyonce.
Ireland's World Cup starts on Saturday, September 9th against Romania in Bordeaux.
