The nearly complete fossilised remains of a stegosaurus fetched almost $45 million at auction in New York - a record sum for a dinosaur.

Sotheby’s in New York said the 11ft tall, 27ft long fossil, nicknamed Apex, is considered among the most complete specimens ever found, and was sold to an anonymous buyer.

The 150 million-year-old stegosaurus - discovered in the aptly-named town of Dinosaur, Colorado - was one of the world’s most distinctive dinosaurs, they’re the species with pointy plates on their backs, but Apex showed signs of arthritis.

The King’s speech revealed more about the UK’s direction of travel for energy over this parliament on Wednesday- but can the new Labour government cut our energy bills with its plans to bet big on renewable power and cut fossil fuels?
