World's largest jet to fly into Glasgow Airport for first time since 2019

The world’s largest passenger jet is returning to Paisley this month for the first time in more than three years.

The iconic double-decker A380 aircraft will return to Glasgow Airport as part of Emirates’ Dubai service on Sunday, March 26 for the first time since September 2019.

There is expected to be a big turnout from aviation enthusiasts interested in the event.

As a result, Police Scotland are to deploy special measures on the day of its arrival.

Viewing of the aircraft’s arrival and departure will be limited to specific areas around the perimeter of the airfield.

The airport has shared an arrival map detailing out viewing points, parking and no-go zones ahead of the big day.

The massive aircraft is scheduled to land at 12.45pm before taking off again at 2.35pm.

A statement from airport bosses said: “It will be the first time the world’s largest commercial passenger aircraft has been flown the route since September 2019 and as such there has been considerable public interest in the event.

“Glasgow Airport is keen for members of the public to join in the celebrations but to do so in a safe and orderly manner.

“The airport has been working closely with Police Scotland to put various measures in place on the day.

“These will ensure the safety of visitors and minimise congestion on both the airport’s road network and surrounding roads.”

The airport is offering six hours of free parking at the long-stay car park on Abbotsinch Road for the event.

However, they are encouraging the use public transport if possible to reduce congestion.
