The world’s first vegan superhero book is launching at the DSPCA centre next week.
Venganza Super Heroes Span the Sea is all about underlining the power of kindness to all and serving plant-based fare and you can go to the book launch at the DSPCA Summer Camp, Mount Venus Road, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16 at 12 noon on Tuesday, 12 July.
Gillian Bird, the Head of Education at DSPCA said: “The DSPCA Education Department is delighted to be visited again by Susan Hargreaves from Animal Hero Kids charity in the USA.

“Susan’s beliefs in educating children and young people in the importance of treating all animals with respect and kindness is the basic teaching of the DSPCA Education Programme. “Her new book ‘Veganza Animal Heroes’ continues to teach children the importance of caring for all the animals on the planet and will hopefully inspire children to be Animal Heroes here in Ireland for pets who are not cared for properly by ignorant or uncaring owners.”
Meanwhile, author Susan Hargreaves said: ““I love returning to Ireland to my grandfather's home and seeing all of the many rescued animals safe and sound at the beautiful DSPCA sanctuary in the Wicklow mountains.”
The global tour is part of the “Be An Animal Hero” initiative created by author, educator and activist Susan Hargreaves and AnimalHeroKids.org.
Susan portrays her fictional alter-ego Veganza, a red-haired, staff-wielding SuperHero, who uses her powers to evoke kindness in others. She’s accompanied by two other Vegan Super Heroes -- “Freedom” (played by Miami vegan professional bodybuilder Korin Sutton) - “Courage.” Mitali Deypurkaystha, a UK based vegan publisher.
The summer campers in the DSPCA centre will be wearing their own capes and Veganza masks to listen to daring animal rescue tales. Then everyone will enjoy a vegan lunch of falafel and bountiful bars from the Happy Pear.
Susan Hargreaves is also featured in an original documentary with Joaquin Phoenix, Paul McCartney and Chrissie Hynde by the iconic “Earthlings” filmmaker, Shaun Monson about her 43 year journey pushing the boundaries of compassion extended to all species of animals.
The global launch includes an opportunity to download the e-novel July 8 for free. Susan’s 63rd birthday gift to the world. It’s available on Amazon, where it reached Number One in New Releases for Ecology and Teens. You can find out more here.
