World's biggest ceilidh coming to Glasgow's OVO Hydro this Christmas

We know it seems a long way away, but Christmas will be here before you know it - and we have an event that is sure to get you into the festive spirit.

The world’s biggest ceilidh is set to take place at The Ovo Hydro in Glasgow this December, and tickets are already on sale.

Featuring some of the top musicians on the Scottish and Irish scene, Hoolie in the Hydro is promised be the biggest night of traditional music to ever have taken place.

Gary Innes, the organiser behind Hoolie in the Hydro, said: “I appreciate that putting a show of this size and scale during the current times is a bold move, but I also genuinely believe that traditional music has a place on the country’s biggest stages.

"Someone always has to go first, and my hope is that Hoolie in the Hydro will pave the way for other traditional musicians to take the gamble and start booking shows on a similar scale.

"Once the door is opened and people see that it can be done, I don’t see any reason why traditional music can’t be showcased throughout the year on stages like The Ovo Hydro."

He added: “This world-first event is set to be the biggest night of traditional music that Scotland has ever seen. I can’t wait to have thousands of people join us for what’s sure to be a serious party and a history-making moment.”

As well as performances from famed Caledonia singer Dougie Maclean, award-winning Scottish outfit Skerryvore and Celtic-rock sensations Mànran, some of the biggest names from the Irish traditional music will be heading over from the Emerald Isle to take over the Scottish stage.

Hoolie in the Hydro will take place on Saturday, December 17. Tickets are start at £40.95 per person, available now online at ticketmaster.co.uk.
