Wales and the North West of England have found themselves on a list of much visit places for 2023.
Every year Time Out releases a month-by-month guide of locations across the world that are worth a trip to at specific times over the next 12 months.
This year holidays as diverse as the Philippines, the Yukon in Canada and Greenland have made the list, alongside a couple of areas in the UK (Eastbourne has also been crowned the best spot to head to for a day trip).
We take a look at some of the most intriguing and different places to have made the cut below...

Melbourne, Australia in January
Time Out argues that the Australian city is perfect for a January break as its summer there.
What better way to banish the winter blues and cement aspirations of new year, new you than by sunning yourself on the beach in an entirely new hemisphere?
The publication recommends checking out some street art and drinking some coffee in "Australia's coolest city".
Garden Route, South Africa in February
February provides the perfect temperature to try out this road trip, which runs around 300km from the west to the east.
The route takes you from Whitsand to Storms River along the southern coastline of South Africa, and is widely considered to be one of the best mini-road trips going.
Along the way you'll find beautiful beaches, charming towns and surprisingly blue lakes.
Marrakech, Morocco in March
If you've ever looked at flights to the historical Moroccan city, then you'll know that they're much cheaper during the UK summer months than in the autumn or spring.
That's because the between seasons provide the perfect weather to view Marrakech, which can be quite overwhelming when the high summer heat kicks in.
The city boasts one of the world's best and most enchanting sooks as well as an embarrassment of roof top bar and restaurant riches.
Never been? We've got a guide to Marrakech packed with top tips for the best things to see and do.
Lake Tahoe, USA in April
The large freshwater lake in Sierra Nevada is known both for its beach in the summer, and its ski resorts in the winter.
Over Christmas its frosted peaks are as big an attraction as the wonderful swimming spots are in June, July and August.
April is the perfect middle-ground month to pay Lake Tahoe a visit and soak up its beauty without throngs of others.
Hokkaido, Japan in May
Japan's famous cherry trees tend to blossom in April, except in the north of the country in places such as Hokkaido.
Sakura flower a month later than they do elsewhere and bring the island to life at the beginning of the summer.
Matsumae Park is one of the best places to spot them as it has 250 varieties of cherry blossom and 10,000 trees, according to Time Out.
Langkawi, Malaysia in June
In June the prospect of rain keeps most people away from Malaysia’s west coast.
The rains are not actually that bad, according to Time Out, and more than made up for by the deserted attractions and rock bottom hotel prices.
Pantai Cenang beach and the charming Tanjung Rhu are particularly nice at that time of the year, as is the jungle.
Greenland in July
Greenland is the new Iceland according to Time Out, which may come as a surprise to those who hadn't yet realised Iceland was the new whatever the old place was.
Advantages of heading to the icier and rockier of the islands is that its not oversaturated by visitors (yet) and has plenty of opportunities to get off the beaten track.
If you'd like to see some ice bergs before they all melt then a night cruise of Unesco-listed Ilulissat Icefjord, which is the size of 66,000 football fields, looks beautiful in the midnight sun.
Slovenia in August
In August, the capital Ljubljana and Lakes Bled and Bohinj are packed with locals and tourists alike, and for good reason.
The drinks flow cheaply and the bodies of water and mountain which hang above them are beautiful
There are plenty of lesser-known corners of the country to explore if you want a quieter trip, including a hike up Mount Triglav, the pretty towns of Maribor and Ptuj, or the smaller lakes which are dotted across the country.
Montenegro in September
The days of Montenegro being a little secret paradise are gone and now the summer months see huge crowds descend on its wonderful coastline.
For those who like things a little quieter but still enjoy the sunshine, September may be the time to visit.
Perast is the pick of the coast while Cetinje - the royal capital - has the best cultural spots the country has to offer.
Valencia, Spain in October
Valencia was named World Design Capital for 2022 for good reason.
The southeastern Spanish port city has many fantastic art museums, contemporary galleries and a lot of stunning architecture.
Things can get very hot in this part of Spain during the summer, so an October trip is probably perfect weather wise.
The futuristic City of Arts and Sciences and the Palau de les Arts opera house are definitely worth a visit.
Yukon, Canada in November
British children of a certain age will associate this Canadian territory primarily with Yvon of the Yukon, a cartoon French explorer defrosted 300 years after his voyage goes wrong.
In reality the sparsely populated, mountainous territory is just as intense and freezing as the cartoon depicts, and well worth a visit.
Visitors can explore the freezing wilderness on skis or via a snowmobile, and can go ice-fishing.
If you are in luck the night skies will be light up with the Aurora Borealis.
Kerala, India in December
India’s serene southwestern state has become very popular with international visitors in recent years.
More and more people are being drawn in by its palm-fringed beaches, tranquil tea plantations and tiger-spotting opportunities.
The fabulous Kochi-Muziris Biennale, India’s biggest contemporary art event, is well worth a visit.
