You don’t need me to tell you that the streets of Soho carry a palpable, debaucherous energy. What I do need to tell you is that somehow the area is about to get even better thanks to the arrival of world-renowned Dalston cocktail bar, Three Sheets, which is finding a second home on Manette Street this March.
Founded in 2016 by brothers Max and Noel Venning, the original currently stands at number 7 on the UK’s Top 50 Cocktail Bars list, previously graced the World’s 50 Best Bars list for 5 years, and was nominated as one of the top 10 international cocktail bars at the Spirited Awards by Tales of the Cocktail for 6 years running.
According to the brothers, the new spot – which will open in the morning for Dead Good coffee and pastries before rolling into lunch, dinner and drinks – will offer a different cocktail menu from its sister bar while retaining the pair’s signature style.
Promising clean, elegant and complex serves, drinks will include their version of a carbonated French 75, made with gin, clarified lemon, moscato, orange flower and verjus; a Mango Ice Tea, concocted with rum, and pickled mango alongside cloud and Lapsang teas; as well as a delectable Scottish Coffee, containing buttered scotch, salted coffee and shortbread cream. Meanwhile, a concise wine list will feature ‘bold’ French reds, ‘juicy’ whites and an impressive 6 small-producer champagnes by the glass.
To complement such a list, ex-Lyle’s chef and butcher William Blank will be dishing up hearty, comforting fare such as salt beef sandwiches, croquettes and triple cooked chips, as well as fresh oysters with varying accompaniments.
Set to be warm and cosy, according to the brothers, retractable doors will also allow patrons to spill out onto the street come summer. ‘We’re really excited to bring Three Sheets to Soho,’ says Max. ‘There’s no place quite like it and we think the bar’s energy will fit right in. There are some incredible bars here already and we’re looking forward to joining them.’
