He's been hailed as the best thing about the World Cup despite not having played professional football in more than 20 years.
Bonafide cross-border national treasure Ally McCoist is the man that will have you tuning into a group game you otherwise had no care about for his humour, passion, and injections of historical facts.
The former Sunderland, Rangers and Scotland man has built up a big following of fans in his punditry and commentary career, having retired from playing in 2001.

If you caught Germany's shock loss to Japan, you'll know why. Ally was even approached by a security steward in the stadium, such was his exuberance at Japan's winning goal.
"Ally McCoist nearly getting kicked out of the commentary booth for celebrating Japan's winner is by far the best thing to happen at this world cup so far," wrote one viewer, Mark, on Twitter.
Dan, from Sunderland, put it: "One thing the World Cup is teaching us is that Ally McCoist is still the best football commentator out there."
And four years ago in Russia, he was the go-to man for trivia about where each game was being played.
Thankfully, McCoist, who joined Sunderland as a fresh-faced teenager in 1981 before securing icon status at Rangers in the 1980s and 1990s, is signed up to commentate for ITV on more matches in the 2022 Fifa World Cup.
