World Cup 2022: Group C preview, tips and odds featuring Argentina, Mexico, Poland and Saudi Arabia

The group stage is just moments away at the 2022 World Cup with all eyes on Group C but with Lionel Messi in particular. Argentina go into this tournament as one of the favourites and could well face rivals Brazil in the semi-final but they need to see off Poland, Mexico and Saudi Arabia first.

Bookies Betfred are expecting Poland and Mexico to battle it out for the second spot in the Round of 16 behind Messi and co with both teams priced at 10/11 to go through to the next round. This could well be Robert Lewandowski's last chance to make his mark on the biggest stage of international football as the 34-year-old striker is a surprising 40/1 to lift the Golden Boot too.

Argentina - 2/5

Tottenham Hotspurs defender Cristian Romero will be hoping to return to Premier League as a World Cup winner with compatriot Lionel Messi looking to complete his trophy collection in what could well be his last chance. Lionel Scaloni's side finished the qualifiers undefeated with rivals Brazil just in front of them.

Mexico - 9/2

In what will be their eighth successive World Cup tournament, Mexico will be looking to go beyond the round of 16 for the first time in their history. They have failed to go beyond that in their last seven appearances but managed quarter-finals back in 1986 - when they were hosts.

Poland - 9/2

Poland secured back-to-back World Cup qualifications for the first time since 2006. They crashed out of the group stages in Russia and will be looking to go one step better with Robert Lewandowski leading the attack and secure a place in the round of 16 for the first time since 1986.

Saudi Arabia - 25/1

The group minnows are in just their sixth World Cup appearance and are yet to equal or better their World Cup debut in 1994 where they finished in the Round of 16. A disappointing exit in the Asian Cup will be hovering over the Green Falcons going into this tournament but Herve Renard knows he will have a tough challenge ahead.
