World Cup 2022 draw confirmed as Scotland find out Qatar fate with huge England battle headlining potential fixtures

Scotland have discovered their fate for Qatar 2022 as they enter the World Cup group stage draw for the first time in 24 years.

They'll meet a familiar adversary in Group B if they get past Ukraine and Wales, with England awaiting alongside Iran and USA.

Scotland were supposed to hold their play-off matches for the major tournament this month, but a semi-final with Ukraine had to be postponed after Russia's horrific invasion of their land.

But now the match is pencilled in for June, with Wales beating Austria to reach the final.

Steve Clarke's side met with England at Euro 2020 last year in a 0-0 draw, with Iran and USA proving potentially decent ties if Scotland make it all the way.

Lanarkshire stars keen to get involved with the squad. Muirhouse's Kieran Tierney is an almost guarantee pick if Scotland reach the tournament, while Wishaw's David Turnbull and Stephen O'Donnell also want in.

Hamilton's Lewis Ferguson made his first national team start this week while Kenny McLean and Kevin Nisbet of Cambuslang are in the running too.

Clarke's Scots side found themselves in pot four despite still having a huge play-off semi-final against Ukraine in June before a potential match with Wales to reach Qatar.

France are the defending champions with Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Portugal and more gunning for glory.
