Bath are bracing themselves to lose Taulupe Faletau to Wales after he continued his impressive return from a seven-month injury lay-off.
The 31-year-old back row forward showed up well as he played the full 80 minutes in a narrow 24-20 defeat to Premiership leaders Leicester at The Rec.
That followed the 64 minutes he had against Wasps last weekend, on his first outing since last summer’s Lions tour of South Africa, following an ankle injury.
The 86-cap Wales No 8 has started both games on the blindside flank, demonstrating his versatility.
He scored a try against Wasps and put in a big shift against the Tigers.
It remains to be seen whether he will be called up to Wayne Pivac’s Wales squad ahead of next Saturday’s Six Nations clash with England at Twickenham.
But Bath head coach Neal Hatley expects to lose him at some point during the remainder of the Championship campaign, given the way he has hit the ground running.
“He is a world class player, you would never say he has been out for seven months,” said Hatley.
“He was good last week and he backed up again today.
“He is just going to get better and better and I expect to lose him to Wales in the next two or three weeks - he is such a good player.
“He is like a chameleon, you put him in a level up and he just blends in. He has that innate ability that whatever the quality of the players he is playing with he is the best player on the pitch and he has done that for ages.
“I am going to turn my phone off and if I see that Welsh number from Wayne Pivac we won’t answer!
“We want to keep him, but I imagine at some stage he will get a call.”
