Members of "World Central Kitchen" prepare food for Palestinians, in the location given as Gaza

Following the devastating impact of Hurricane Beryl on Union Island in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the non-profit organization World Central Kitchen has sprung into action to deliver much-needed food and water to the affected community. The island, home to approximately 3,000 residents, was hit by the Category 4 storm, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

World Central Kitchen's Melissa Gluck, speaking from the island in a video message shared on social media, highlighted the urgent need for support in the aftermath of the natural disaster. The organization's team, utilizing helicopters to reach the isolated location, successfully distributed essential supplies such as fruit, water, and sandwiches to the residents.

The impact of Hurricane Beryl on Union Island has been severe, with reports indicating that 90% of homes on the island have either been severely damaged or completely destroyed. The island currently faces challenges such as lack of electricity, power, and water, further exacerbating the situation for the local population.

World Central Kitchen's founder emphasized the organization's commitment to providing aid not only to Union Island but also to other islands in the Caribbean that were affected by the destructive storm. The swift response and mobilization of resources by World Central Kitchen underscore the importance of humanitarian efforts in times of crisis.

As the recovery and rebuilding process begins on Union Island, the support and assistance provided by organizations like World Central Kitchen play a crucial role in helping the community recover and rebuild in the face of adversity.
