The World Central Kitchen (WCK) has raised concerns over the Israeli military's actions during strikes that resulted in the deaths of seven of its aid workers in Gaza. The WCK criticized the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for not adhering to its own procedures during the incident.
Following the release of a video by the IDF detailing the strike, the WCK stated that there was no apparent reason to fire on their personnel convoy, emphasizing that the convoy was unarmed and posed no threat.
The IDF's internal investigation into the incident revealed that they believed they were targeting Hamas operatives when they mistakenly attacked and killed the aid workers in the WCK convoy. As a result of the inquiry, two senior officers were dismissed from their positions.
While acknowledging the IDF's actions in dismissing the officers, the WCK expressed concern that the use of 'deadly force' by the IDF did not align with its own protocols. The organization called for systemic changes within the military to prevent similar incidents in the future.
WCK highlighted the need for reform within the IDF to avoid further military failures, apologies, and the loss of more innocent lives. The organization emphasized the importance of accountability and adherence to established protocols to prevent such tragedies from reoccurring.
